On Saturday, August 23, 2013, Governors Village held the Annual Pool Party. After many rainy weeks the weekend weather turned out to be ideal for celebrating the waning days of summer with neighbors.
Residents began assembling early to swim and visit with each other.
The menu included fresh grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, veggie burgers, chili and veggie chili, vegetarian baked beans and an assortment of salads. Tea, lemonade and water were provided.
Again this year the community donated food and money for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC.
Amy Gamber on Sunday thanked everyone for their generous donations. She will be dropping the donations off at the Durham Branch, which provides food to dozens of food pantries, soup kitchens and after school programs across Chatham and Orange Counties. Amy will report the poundage and total dollars within the week.
