Recap: Tenth Annual Firemen’s Pancake Breakfast, 5K Run/Walk, and Kids Triathlon

Thanks to Ted Smith for contributing these photos and narrative

The Governors Village 10th Annual Firemen’s 5K Run/Walk & Pancake Breakfast was held on Saturday, May 16, 2015. With the cooperation of the weather, it was a great day for a race. Whether you ran or cheered the runners, it was fun for all. Also on hand was a full size mascot named Sparky. Sparky encouraged the runners and joined them at the start of the race. The runners had broad smiles as they celebrated their accomplishment crossing the finish line. Each participant was presented with a collectors T-Shirt. After the run, everyone enjoyed a pancake breakfast, prepared by our Social Committee and served by the Firemen and Firewomen of the Fire Department.

Following the pancake breakfast, the Kids Triathlon started. The participants were to run around the tennis court, bicycle around a course and lastly dive into the pool to swim. After everyone finished, prizes were awarded and everyone either stayed at the pool or left to begin any remaining weekend activities.

We must all thank the members of the Social Committee members and the other volunteers for doing so well with the challenging tasks of planning and leading this event. It was without question a great success. Please enjoy the pictures of this special day.
