The annual Governors Village Easter Egg Hunt was held Saturday, April 15, 2017. The day was comfortably warm and sunny.
Events started with story time. Melissa Barry took the children through several picture books that kept her audience involved throughout.
Next Marney Whitney led a children’s yoga session. The children participated in some yoga moves that were fun to do. Some of the poses were suggested by insect or animal motions including butterfly and down dog.
Following yoga, as if by magic the Easter Bunny appeared hopping out of the woods. He was immediately surrounded by the children who thoroughly enjoy his annual appearance. After he was greeted, the Egg Hunt began.
The younger children searched for eggs in the fenced in area and the older children hunted in a grassy area.
After the eggs were all collected they were exchanged for a cupcake and a bag of candy treats. The cupcakes were decorated with marshmallow chicks, marshmallow bunnies and other decorations. Difficult choices were made.
Afterwards, some of the children spent time with the Easter Bunny and a couple of dads were enlisted to propel their children on the swings.
Thanks to Allie Vivirito for coordinating this event and to Melissa Barry and Marney Whitney for leading the activities. Additional thanks to all who contributed their time and talents toward a successful Easter Egg Hunt, including of course, the Easter Bunny who now gets to rest until next year.
