The Governors Village 2018 BooFest was held on Sunday, October 21, 2018.
It was a great day to be outdoors. The event was very well attended and everyone, especially the children had great fun. The bouncy house was very popular. The boys and girls could not seem to tire of climbing up, sliding down and going around to do it all over again.
The face painting was also very popular with people waiting on line to be treated to the artistic talents of the painter. An imaginative game of tic-tac-toe was played using small pumpkins and apples instead of X’s and O’s. The new playground equipment was put to good use as was the basketball court and the tennis courts.
A parade of children and adults went around by the playground area to the enjoyment of both those parading and those looking on.
The two food trucks arrived and after they were setup, people enjoyed the delights of A Merry Frankster and El Molcajete Tacos. Ice cream dessert was provided by Ben and Jerry’s. The two attendants were kept busy dishing out ice cream treats.
A table was set up on the basketball court for donations to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
We must thank the members of the Social Committee and all other volunteers for making this such a successful event. Please consider volunteering to help with future events. Remember: Many hands make light work. Plus, you will feel good for contributing your time and talents.
The Communications Committee hopes that you enjoy the pictures of this special day. (All pictures taken by Ted Smith)
