  • 22nd Annual Luminary Night @5:00 pm
The wonderful Tim Watkins is hosting our 22nd Annual Governors Village Luminary Night on December 17th this year as part of our community’s Winterfest event.  We hold this event each year to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill (https://rmhch.org) in their mission to provide a home away from home for families in life-altering moments seeking care for sick and injured children in our community hospitals. Those who wish to participate in our community event will purchase luminary kits and be responsible for assembling and lighting their own luminaries.  Each kit will contain 10 luminaries and will cost $10.  You may purchase a luminary kit (or kits) by visiting the Ronald McDonald House luminary website and selecting the “Governors Village” button.  Here is a link to the website Light A Luminary 2022 – Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill. If you prefer to not order kits online, please reach out to Tim at thwatkinsnc@gmail.com or 919-636-2038 to place your order and pay by cash or check.Luminaries will be available for pick up from 1-4 pm on Saturday, December 17th at the Governors Park STADIUM or, if you prefer, separate arrangements can be made for delivery or pick up of kits by reaching out to me.  We are planning to light luminaries as a community on the evening of December 17th, but you may also choose an alternative night if you prefer. If you are unable to participate in the community lighting, please still consider making a donation by visiting the above website or by reaching out to me. All proceeds go directly to supporting families that call the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill “home”.
  • Santa Mailboxes (Dec 1st – Dec 17th)
For those on the nice list,  I was told by Santa’s helpers that the holiday mailboxes at both the Village playground and the Park playground where you can drop your letters to Santa in are going to be available again this year, starting Dec 1st, he will pick them up the morning of December 17th to take back to the North Pole!

Thanks!
