Cracked Filter Causes Governors Village Pool Closing

Scene from 2015 Kid's Triathlon

The Governors Village pool is currently closed due to a cracked filter in the pump room. When our pool attendant arrived this morning, Friday, July 24, 2015, he found that the water in the pool had dropped about 4 inches.

Pool Professionals is onsite and their team is working to fix the problem as quickly as possible. Talis Management Group will send out a notice when the pool is reopened.

On June 18, 2015, Trent Leonard, Recreation Committee chair, announced ADT has installed a new security camera system at the Governors Village pool. All entrances and the entire fence line are covered by four cameras that are installed and recording 24/7, 7 days a week.

If someone enters the pool after hours by hopping the fence or gate, they will be recorded and pool privileges can be revoked for the remainder of the season. Residents are encouraged  to advise anyone who might be tempted to enter the pool after hours about the new security measures.

The pool opened May 9 and will remain open through September 20, 2015. The Pool Brochure provides more information on using the pool amenities and rules for staying safe. Enjoy the rest of the pool season!

New grill has been installed at the pool

A message from the Governors Village Recreation Committee

After a month delay, the new grill install was completed today at the pool. The highlights:

  • There is an infrared burner with a cover which you must remove if you use this burner. This burner is VERY hot. If you have never used infrared before, perhaps you don’t use it on your first grill meal at the pool
  • The grill has lights on it for seeing your food
  • The gas valve in the back has a timer on it
  • The lighting mechanism works now. No more need for a lighting wand
  • Happy grilling!

2015 Pool Rules Approved, Brochure Available

The 2015 Pool Rules were approved last night (March 19, 2015) by the POA Board of Directors. Please note this version of the brochure supersedes an earlier one posted on March 2, 2015.

The 2015 Pool Season for Governors Village runs May 9 – September 20, 2015.

The Recreation Committee has updated the pool brochure for 2015. It covers the basic operating and contact information, fully describes the rules and discusses swimming lessons.

Swiping one’s card to enter the pool confirms the acknowledgment that the resident has read the rules and will adhere to them.

Printed copies will not be distributed to residents this year. Instead as a cost and time-saving measure, the committee decided to distribute the brochure through the community website this year. The rules will also be available at the pool when the season opens.
