Tim and Amanda Wojoski are organizing the campout this year. The fire will be started around dusk with plenty of hot chocolate and s’mores available for campers. In the morning doughnuts and coffee will be available for those who make it through the night.

As in the past, campers are encouraged to set up tents in the far end of the Meadow Park past the amphitheater anytime Saturday afternoon. Flashlights/lanterns and chairs for sitting around the fire will come in handy. There will be a porta-potty available onsite.

Thanks to key organizer Linda Kreiter for overseeing this event. Led by Linda, many Social Committee members and other volunteers staged a fun-filled afternoon of activities that brought smiles and shrieks of joy to the neighborhood.

Family Campout

By afternoon colorful tents started appearing in Meadow Park in preparation for the traditional, post-BooFest family campout. This year the Governors Village YMCA Princesses Waco Tribe hosted the overnight event.

Non-camping neighbors joined the camping families around a fire to enjoy hot chocolate, marshmallows, smores and music. Fresh coffee and hot chocolate were served around the fire pit in the morning as the sun colored the rosy sky. Thanks to Scott Leslie for coordinating the campout.

Yesterday Social Committee chair Diane Talley provided further details about the upcoming BooFest and Scott Leslie supplied the particulars about the campout, including how to RSVP.

More on BooFest

The Social Committee has opted to change things up a bit and try a food truck this year rather than a potluck dinner. Only Burger will be there starting at 5:00 for individuals to purchase dinner. We are still planning a potluck dessert, so everyone bring your favorite dessert!

Reminder: bring chairs and drinks! There will also be drinks for purchase from Only Burger.

Please plan to stop by the Goathouse Refuge tent and make a contribution or purchase one of the beautiful, animal mugs handcrafted by Italian artist Siglinda Scarpa! They will also have “Coffee for a Cause” for purchase. All proceeds go to the care of the animals.

Finally, join the annual family camp-out at Meadow Park following BooFest!

-Thanks, Diane Talley
