DSC_0375
Governors Village would like to remind all homeowners of the following:

Please do not park directly in front of the pool—this is a fire zone.
Please no overnight or vehicle storage in the pool parking lot.

If vehicles are found to be parked in a non-designated parking area, they can be towed without further notice.

Thank you and we hope you enjoy your summer!

On June 18, 2015, Trent Leonard, Recreation Committee chair, announced ADT has installed a new security camera system at the Governors Village pool. All entrances and the entire fence line are covered by four cameras that are installed and recording 24/7, 7 days a week.

If someone enters the pool after hours by hopping the fence or gate, they will be recorded and pool privileges can be revoked for the remainder of the season. Residents are encouraged  to advise anyone who might be tempted to enter the pool after hours about the new security measures.

The pool opened May 9 and will remain open through September 20, 2015. The Pool Brochure provides more information on using the pool amenities and rules for staying safe. Enjoy the rest of the pool season!

Glass inside pool enclosure

Governors Village residents,

Recently, empty alcohol glass bottles have been found inside the pool fence enclosure on at least three separate occasions. This is a reminder that while you are welcome to bring alcohol and food for your consumption to the pool, NO glass, porcelain, or other breakable containers may be brought inside the pool enclosure. NC State law [NCAC 18A .2530 Paragraph (D.)] prohibit these items inside the pool fence enclosure. Please be sure to bring beverages in cans or boxes or decant into plastic receptacles.

Use of Squirt Devices at Governors Village Pool

The Governors Village POA today announced their decision to retain the ban of squirt devices at the pool.

Dear Governors Village residents,

As many residents have become aware, there has been a recent request made of the Board by some residents regarding the current rule restricting the use of squirt devices at the community pool –and more succinctly, whether to repeal the rule or maintain it. As such, numerous residents have come forward to ask that the Board repeal the rule on the use of squirt devices at the community pool, and there have been numerous residents who have contacted the Board and Recreation Committee members requesting that the Board leave the rule as it stands. Therefore, the Board revisited the present squirt gun rule again at their May 2013 meeting, and after discussion and consideration decided that the Association will maintain the stance to not allow squirt devices in the facility.

The Board’s decision largely hinged on the fact that the pool is a community amenity, and must be made inviting and enjoyable for the broadest number of residents in our community. Therefore, while there is support for the allowance of squirt devices, based on the number of complaints and concerns, at this time, squirt toy use will remain prohibited inside the pool area. All involved in this matter understand that the decision to maintain the rule will not make some residents happy, but the Board has to try to ensure the pool is a community asset for all residents to enjoy during the summer months.

Hope you enjoy the summer!

Governors Village Pool Hours

Barry Bassett, Chair of the Recreation Committee, provided an urgent reminder last night about the hours of use for the Governors Village pool. [To learn exactly when the sun is setting, check websites such as local news websites or GAISMA. The sun will set today at 8:21 pm. A week from now it will set at 8:14 pm.]

Tonight there were a large number of people inside the pool fence after official pool hours. It has come to my attention that use of the pool after official pool hours is not uncommon.

Governors Village Official Pool Hours are 6:00am till 8:30pm or Sunset which ever comes first. Sunset is now before 8:30PM, therefore the pool closes before 8:30PM.

Being inside the pool fence after sunset is both a safety and legal issue and jeopardizes our pool permit. Anyone found inside the pool fence after the pool has closed will have their pool key deactivated.
