Food and cash donations were accepted at the door and raffle tickets were sold to benefit the Food Bank of Central and Eastern Carolina. Prizes for the raffle were an assortment of fabulous donated items that had been collected and assembled into luxury gift baskets. The baskets were on display near the entry and residents lined up to dream a little before placing their tickets.

DJ Jeff Taylor entertained during the event with a variety of fun music, inspiring some to get up and dance and others to imagine themselves at the controls in a few years.

Before moving on to the raffle, Amy Gamber reported excellent news for Governors Village’s support of the Food Bank. Residents donated an estimated 1,000 pounds of food and contributed $1163. A match by an anonymous donor of an additional $1163 raised the donation total to $2326. This is double our previous best year!

Many of our residents donated items to the raffle, which helped us generate money for the food bank. Thanks Scott Leslie, Stephan Mole, Amy Gamber, Joanie Hicks, and Debbi Nichols.

And the winners are…
Sam Shaver, Andrew Dummer, Chris Gamber, and Trent Leonard provided much help with set up and cleanup.
Social Committee member Diane Talley was tireless in organizing this event and these members made valuable contributions: Dominique Gignac coordinated the dinner and helped collect items for the raffle; Linda Kreiter enthusiastically ran errands to make sure we had everything we needed for the event; Shannon Leslie helped collect items for the raffle; Mary Roederer, Mary Shaver, Lisa Marie Taylor and Angela Romatzick were also involved in planning and execution.
Diane stressed it is not just hard work that made this event a success, it is the love of community that each volunteer shares in giving time to this committee.
