The Governors Village Firemen’s Pancake Breakfast was held on Saturday, May 20, 2023.

Pancakes and sausages were freshly made by our own five-star chefs. A variety of fruit was also available as was coffee, tea, and water.

As everyone lined up for their breakfasts, the firemen and a fire lady served the food. Social committee volunteers replaced empty trays and dishes with full ones. There was plenty for all including seconds and third servings.

Firemen were happy to explain the equipment and the trucks to interested children and parents.

Some of the event sponsors had tents where they could discuss their products or services with anyone visiting their displays.

The pool was open and ready. As usual, the children boldly frolicked in the water while some of the adults were more cautious.

We need to thank the participating merchants who contributed to this fundraiser and the Fire Department volunteers for serving breakfast and helping in other ways. This is over and above protecting our lives and property. They are so important to our community.

We can never say enough about our community volunteers. Not only the Social Committee but others who stepped up and worked to make this a successful event. If you had a good time, please consider offering your help not only next year but also at other events planned for later this year. Many hands make light work.

Finally, remember our semi-annual blood drives. While it is too late for the May collection, there is another in September, the 4^th Tuesday of the month.

At our October 3rd meeting, the GV POA board met with Chris Ehrenfeld (President, BOLD Companies) to learn more about Bold’s plan to develop the lot at the corner of Moring and Governors Drive (parcel across from the Food Lion Shopping Center).

• 4 buildings for retail and offices are planned along Governors Drive and Moring Road. Parking will be behind the buildings.
• Construction has started with Building 1 along Governors Drive going up first. The architecture will be more modern but blend in with the existing buildings across the street (where the pharmacy is). Retail businesses are expected to open in late 2023.  
• Building 2 along Moring will follow with space for a restaurant – lease negotiations started.
• Timeline for Buildings 3 and 4 will depend on demand.
• Building 1 will be one story (see concept renderings below). Of the remaining 3 buildings, up to 2 of them will be 2 stories tall.
