New Property Management Company

As you may be already aware, the Board of Directors for Governors Village Property Owners Association has decided to make a change in management companies. After an exhaustive search to find the best fit for Governors Village Property Owners Association, I am pleased to inform you that effective February 1, 2022 FirstService Residential will begin serving us as the new management company. Our services with Towne Properties ended on December 31, 2021, so we have a lag in management for the month of January. Your January association dues will be billed with February’s dues in a consolidated bill. Information on how to make online payments, arrange for automatic payments, and where to send physical checks will be coming as soon as the FirstService Residential systems are ready to accept payment. Please hold on to your January payment and plan to make it for February 1st.

FirstService Residential has been managing community associations in the Carolinas since 1989. Of the approximately 10,000 management companies in the United States, FirstService Residential is 1 of only 200 that has earned and been recognized by the nation’s authority on community association management as an Accredited Association Management Company (AAMC®). The AAMC® designation is reserved only for those recognized as the “best-of-the-best” community association management companies in the United States. In order to ensure that you are getting the absolute brightest, most-qualified, and responsive services for your community association, FirstService Residential’s staff has been organized with seasoned professionals that have extensive professional education, hold the highest certifications and designations in the industry, and over 200 years of combined industry experience. You can learn more about FirstService Residential and the services it provides at www.fsresidential.com.

While FirstService Residential does not start managing until February 1, all residents are recommended to begin registering for your new Resident Portal at https://GovernorsVillagePOA.connectresident.com. While not all features are not activated yet, this portal will be your one-stop shop to view your account information, make payments, place service requests, and much more. When registering, please link your account using your unit address as follows: 10015 Fountain, Chapel Hill, NC 27517, USA. Further information about FirstService Residential management including your community manager and point of contacts will be provided in a forthcoming communication along with your February statement.

The Board of Directors of Governors Village Property Owners Association is confident that residents will be pleased with the management change.

Best Regards,

Elaine Burgin

Signup to join a committee, lead a new initiative, or volunteer to help in other ways!

There are many new initiatives happening in Governors Village and we need a village to get them done. Please consider being active in our community. You can start by submitting your information to the form at right. I will put you in contact with the appropriate people to help get things moving. Currently, there are openings on all committees and there are new initiatives with a potential dog park, solar power and energy efficiency, and road/sidewalk improvements.

Annual HOA Meeting 2021 Highlights

Excellent neighborhood meeting — good attendance and positive vibe. Detailed minutes of the meeting are forthcoming, but here is a fast thumbnail for those who could not attend:

·         After almost two decades, we have a new property management firm starting in 2022.

·         New pool operator for the summer season.

·         New landscaping contractor as well.

·         New committee formed to explore a dog park for Governors Village.

·         New committee formed to promote solar power and energy efficiency (including pedestrian access).

·         Budget improvements, increases to our reserves.

·         No dues increases now, possibility of an increase mid-year

Please consider participating in one of these new initiatives, or on one of our longstanding neighborhood groups – grounds, recreation, communication, social, ARB, Board of Directors. Join other residents, have some fun together, make our community a better place to live.

Update: Fill the Boot Friday, June 1, 2018

The date for the upcoming social and fundraiser, Fill the Boot Friday, June 1, 2018, is quickly approaching. Join the social committee in helping support our local fire department with a night of food, fun and firefighters.

Activities begin at 5 pm in Governors Park at the pool and playground.

Fundraiser

Please come out to help support North Chatham County Fire Department and enjoy an evening out. This marks the 13th year Governors Village Social Committee has sponsored a community-wide social event to assist our local fire department, the only HOA to do so. Let’s show them how much we appreciate their hard work!

Donations will be collected in a fireman’s boot in the pool area. Checks can be made out to North Chatham County Fire Department.

Entertainment

The social committee is excited to announce that Neville’s Quarter will be performing starting at 5:00 pm. They are an acoustic guitar and violin duo out of Chapel Hill. Here is an example of their music.

The fire department has been working hard on creating a fun obstacle course for children to try out their firefighter skills.

Residents also are encouraged to bring Corn Hole and other fun yard games to play and enjoy the evening with your fellow neighbors.

Food Truck

Napoli Neapolitan Wood-Fired Pizza will offer food and gelato for purchase. (menu)

Please RSVP by May 25 so planners can prepare best for food. If you require a gluten free crust or have any other questions please email Leda asap.
